The first appointment will involve a thorough examination and assessment for suitability for an implant. We will go through the likely cost, timescales and risks and benefits of the procedure - specific to you.
Typically, the next appointment will be the implant placement appointment. You will completely numb, and will not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. The dentist may have to make a small cut in your gums to facilitate placing the implant. You may require bone grafting if there is not enough bone to support an implant. At the end of the procedure, a few sutures will be placed, which will dissolve on their own within 2-3 weeks.
After 8-12 weeks, you will return to have an impression made in order to fabricate your crown or bridge.
2-3 weeks later, you will be able to return to have your final crown fitted.
A subsequent review appointment is made, and followup every 6 months is recommended.
Unfortunately, about 1 in 20 implants (5%) nationally do not take, for a multitude of reasons.
If your implant does not take, we undertake to re-do it free of charge.
